The solar panels are to generate 7,5 MW on five roof-top installations belonging to Elpo in the northern Italian city of Padua. The modules are to be installed on asbestos–covered roofs that are to be replaced with plastic roofing material, Estrella Jara, head of Solaria’s marketing team, said.
The whole installation process, which will not disrupt Elpo’s operations, will take approximately 4 months, including the replacement of the roofs. “This will be an engineering and construction feat that will highlight Solaria’s technical expertise,” she pointed out.
Solaria president, Enrique Díaz-Tejeiro, for his part said the deal was result of Solaria’s “deep understanding” of the renewable energies sector, that allows the company to “provide value-added solutions in significant markets such as Italy and Germany.” “I am sure both Solaria and Elpo will be happy with this project which will boost our international expansion process,” he added.
As part of Solaria’s international expansion strategy, in 2009 the company started operations in Italy, where it has signed contracts that are to generate over 40 MW. The company also inaugurated offices in France, Germany, Greece and Brasil last year. The strategy has also been backed up by significant investments in R&D and in state-of-the-art equipment for the company’s factories.
